LOCAL HERO WINNERS
This month we selected another two Oundle Life Local Hero winners. Such amazing work going on in our communities – long may it last.
We received this email from an Oundle lady...
I would like to nominate Mrs Jennifer Ray
as my local hero. Ever since lockdown Jenny has been a real help, shopping, collecting prescriptions and not least taking me to hospital all through the year for treatment on my eyes every 10 or so weeks. Contently she sits and waits in the car park for nearly 2 hours each time. She also checks up on me from time to time to see if I need anything.
...and so we surprised Jenny (and it really was a surprise with a little help from her husband!) with an Afternoon Tea for Two voucher
(for The Boxwood Cafe at The Barn Garden Centre) and her certificate.
I only wish I lived near Jenny, she sounds like a real star and a wonderful neighbour to have.
...and our second winner this month – is there anything she doesn’t help with in Barnwell?
I would like to nominate Caroline Marriott from Barnwell. Twice a week she drives to Oundle surgery and collects the prescriptions for the residents of the village and then delivers them to each person, I have often seen her in all weathers dropping of prescriptions. She
also runs the village share project. Since the beginning of the pandemic, residents delivered food to her and she distributes it to people who need it. Caroline also runs a 100 club for the village church. She also takes the elderly to medical appointments, I do know she took a couple of elderly people to Peterborough for their COVID vaccinations too.
...and so Caroline received an Afternoon Tea for Two voucher (for The Boxwood Cafe at The Barn Garden Centre) and her certificate.
Well done Caroline – it sounds like Barnwell has a true community hero in its midst!
