Coffee, Cakes, Chatter & More
Followed by a Talk from Local Author Kathryn Baird.
A pop-up café opens again in Cotterstock Village Hall, PE8 5HD on Monday 4th March from 10am to 12 noon. Drop in whenever
you like. Toni Millward, customer adviser for Oundle library, will be there with a display and leaflets telling people more about the library and what they offer.
For the last 30 minutes, if you choose to
stay, we will be treated to a talk by Kathryn Baird who recently published her delightful book “Fifty Mysterious Postcards; Shorthand Messages from the Golden Age of the Postcard”. Kathryn learned to write Pitman Shorthand in the 1970s and taught it during the 1980s. It was at this time that she purchased a postcard with a message written in shorthand, and ever since has amassed a huge collection which she has transcribed. Her talk will reveal stories of love, loss and possibly an unrequited love too!
The cost is just £3 (cash only) for any or all of a drink, cake and the talk too. Everyone will be warmly welcomed.
