                                CLASSIC COLLECTION
Oundle Library
Classic books can be a richly rewarding reading experience and, like all reading, encourage imagination, empathy, and self- knowledge. Whether you’re a fan of Dickens or wish to try the elegant prose style of E. M. Forster, Oundle Library is a great resource for discovering, or rediscovering, classic works of literature.
The newly refreshed selection reflects the library’s mission to offer both modern and traditional works that are interesting to all readers, from students to casual readers wishing to explore different authors. The recent new arrivals offer a wider selection, including Japanese ghost stories, Jack Kerouac’s On
The Road as well as authors such as James Baldwin, John Steinbeck, Muriel Spark and Toni
Morrison, adding to the previous collection of titles by Cervantes, Dostoyevsky, Flaubert, Nabokov, Kafka, and many more.
Digital books and digital audiobooks are
now in the mainstream with more of us doing
at least some of our reading on a screen. With
a smartphone, the library goes with you in
your pocket. The two digital reading Apps on offer for all library customers are Borrowbox and Libby. Both Apps have a broad selection
of classics as text and also as audiobooks. Why not listen to a lively reading of A Room With A View to while away those chores like washing the car or mowing the lawn! Best of all, as with all items borrowed from the library, they are free of charge!
