Remember Zantay? A year to remember for different reasons
Zantay was fundraising last year for a volunteering expedition to Borneo but unfortunately due to the Coronavirus pandemic her trip was cancelled.
Zantay had fundraised all her travel costs prior to the lockdown and a little extra.
Her family were unsure what funds would be refunded but luckily they all were. She contacted her sponsors and donors and the majority were happy for her to redistribute the donations to other local causes.
So far she has donated:
• All her Easter sweet cones and craft sets
to Thrapston Primary school for the key
worker children (last year).
• 75 year VE Day merchandise to local
residents.
• A hamper to Castle Court Macmillan fund
raiser.
• Christmas toys to the Shoebox appeal.
• Christmas selection boxes and goodies for
Thrapston Foodbank.
• Organised a Christmas competition with
Bennett’s Cafe.

• A care hamper for Intensive Care Unit Kettering hospital.
• Bought refreshments for the volunteers at the Covid vaccination at the GP surgery.
• She has also donated 3 laptops to her school to assist children with home- schooling, donated to Johnny’s Happy Place Kettering (mental health charity)
and donated to Nannas animal rescue Irthlingborough a place she volunteered at.
She also plans to donate to Cransley Hospice and a children’s hospice.
One of her sponsors originally donated £75. Zantay matched this to make £150. They then doubled it and their central organisation doubled it, making a donation of £600 to Thrapston Foodbank. We are just waiting for restrictions to lift so a cheque can be presented to them.
Zantay was very disappointed not being able to help children in Borneo but she has now helped many local people.
Well done Zantay – you have certainly made a difference during the Pandemic.
As well as printing 4,000 copies...
