possible to capture all of the trials and tribulations
of the Olympiad, a number of events stand out. In a display of athletic splendour that Patches O’Houlihan himself would applaud, Maj Tom Nell (US Marine Corps, in case you hadn’t already picked up on that one) ably demonstrated how deep-rooted Dodgeball is in the strategic culture of the US – we wish him well in his upcoming assignment to the Purple Cobras. Maj Jonghyun Park provided unequivocal evidence that the ‘PlayStation Generation’ are
NOT universally tech savvy, through the worst ever recorded score in the digital game – Snake. And
finally, Lt Col Alistair Felton, in delivering a ‘heroic’ effort on the indoor rowing aspect of the Superstars event, simultaneously secured the title of best- gurning pose of the Olympiad (acknowledging his natural advantage).
Notwithstanding a nail-biting finish to the Superstars event in the Heather Stanning Gym, which almost saw Col Rory taken out in a sprint between the final 2 competitors (how we would have missed those summaries), the final result was preordained. In third place, B Division secured bronze with 18 points; in
second place, A Division were valiant runners up on 22 points; and overall winners on 26 points, were mighty C Division. Competitors and observers alike then retired to the Grass Roots café to share their tales of derring-do over pizza and beverages. A
great day was had by all – thanks go out to all who participated in the planning and running of the ACSC 26 Olympiad! Gladiators, I salute you...
