Ex Heavy Carry, a 6-mile loaded march with full mortar kit which the entire cadre completed within the 2 hours allocated time. A successful cadre has meant that we accepted all 18 Ri emen into Mortar Platoon with Rfn Petriello the deserving Top Student.
Sniper Platoon: The purpose of this cadre was not to badge new snipers but rather to assess the Ri emen and give them a avour of the Platoon. The cadre lasted 4 weeks and lessons ranged from basic military skills through to sniper-spe- ci c training combined with an extensive period of navigation instruction across SPTA. A good start for the new men; they are all looking to go on badging courses at the earliest opportunity.
Anti-Tank Platoon: Getting a fresh crop of keen ‘tank-snipers’ was much needed to ensure full manning for Estonia. We were surprised by the high quality of Ri emen who came across, and they performed well on an arduous cadre. Out of the 25 that started the cadre 23 ended up quali- fying as Javelin operators, receiving their Anti-Tank badges which they are all now sporting proudly on their jersey heavy wool. The top student was Rfn Gillet, who performed exceptionally well throughout.
Some exceptionally hard work was put into running the cadres by the respective training teams and the new lads bene tted from it enormously. The Coy was set for its future deployment to Estonia for the entire duration of the Operation.
