Cadets go from strength to strength
Lucton’s contingent has grown again and is now at full capacity. The contingent has enjoyed two excellent eld training weekends at Nesscliffe this year. The rst weekend involved team activates like shooting, drill, the assault course and the climbing tower, followed by a very challenging night navigation exercise. The second weekend was spent in the eld defending two locations from enemy attack, before taking the ght to the enemy.
CSM Megan Grif ths and LCpl Josh Saunders were two of sixty cadets from across the UK who attended the week long National Cadet Leadership course.
Yet again this year, we are very proud to have had a Lucton cadet chosen as the CCF Lord Lieuten- ant’s cadet for Herefordshire, Sgt Anna Patterson was awarded this honour at a special ceremony by Lady Darnley in Hereford.
The First Aid teams have worked very hard again
this year, attending the 11 Signal and West Midlands
Brigade First Aid Competition. The teams performed
impeccably taking an outstanding rst and second
place in the competition! The winning team of LCpl
Poppy Perry, LCpl Maddie Lewis, LCpl Josh Turnbull
and LCpl Jack Buttery, came third in the national
nals. That makes it ve years in a row that Lucton
has nished in the top three nationally, winning in
Annual Camp was hosted by Lucton’s own Brigade and it was extremely successful. The cadets really enjoyed themselves and they certainly had a packed week, shooting on short and long ring ranges, attending a wide range of stands where they learnt and practiced skills such as vehicle check points, moving with weapons, sweeping for land mines and clearing buildings. Camp culminated in an exciting exercise, which allowed them to use many of the skills they had learnt throughout the week.
Once again the Contingent has received outstanding support from the Brigade Cadet Training Team, The Governors and above all the Headmistress, Mrs Thorne, to whom we would like to express out thanks.
