our regimental career management processes will battle eld. It is every Ri eman’s duty to continue
ensure that they remain so. If I could make a point to Regular Ri emen reading this report it would be to encourage them to take advantage of the oppor- tunity that the size of The Ri es provides by looking to gain experience in more than one battalion as this maximises talent and will soon be a desirable step for all Ri emen before promotion to Major or WO2.
Finally I would like to report on every Ri e- man’s true main effort: sustainment. The recruiting environment remains challenging, with The Ri es falling just short of its requirement (500 new recruits into training each year) despite comparative success when measured against other infantry regiments. I believe our relative success comes about from a combination of The Ri es being a modern, exciting and well branded Regiment; the opportunities that are on offer within the Regiment in terms of battalion roles and locations; the pro le the Regiment enjoys and in which all ve pillars of the regiment plays a part; and the pride we all take in being Ri emen with a reputation for professional expertise on the
reinforcing these key messages to potential new Ri emen (whilst retaining existing Ri emen) so that the next Defence Review looks on us as favourably as A2020R self-evidently did.
