Ri es supported the unveiling of the memorial pavior to Fred Youens VC by the war memorial at All Saints Church in High Wycombe on 9th July. T/2Lt Youens was awarded his VC posthumously serving with the 10th Battalion Durham Light Infantry at the time of his death. Near Hill 60 at Zwartoleen, Ypres on 7th July 1917 whilst rallying a Lewis gun crew who had become disorganised due to heavy shelling he was mortally wounded when the second of two German grenades he was throwing out of their trench exploded. A former pupil of the Royal Grammar School in High Wycombe a further ceremony involving Ri es badged cadets will take place at the school in November.
At Edward Brooks Barracks the cadet instructor supper covering the Berks, Bucks and Oxon area held on 6th July gave the opportunity for an update by Brig Rob Thomson on current activity within the battalions and future regimental devel-
weekend planned for October aimed at providing slightly more advanced eld craft training for senior cadets and enhancing the instructional capabilities of the adult instructors was discussed along with other issues such as inspections, visits and support of ACF camps.
