Your talents are needed to help keep Thrapston vibrant!
January brings everything that is new, if the marketing slogans are anything to go by. Beginnings, homes, interests, resolutions - all of them new as the calendar turns from one year to the next. The shift into 2019 will be no different. We’ll be encouraged to take up new hobbies, to write a new aspirations list, to make new resolutions. And, all at a time of political uncertainty on the national stage - and at the county level too. All
the more reason then, to look local - to Thrapston, Denford and Islip - for positive news about the year ahead.

many volunteers put in week in, week out. They’re fundraisers, event organisers, activity planners and the rest who last year made
a huge difference to the lives of so many people across our area. To them, a huge thank-you. To them a simple message: your work may not always get the plaudits and praise that it deserves, but know just how many people appreciate your efforts.

We wish them well because they will continue to make a difference and continue to enrich our communities. We’ve sports clubs, groups such as Beavers and Cubs, charity fundraisers, special interest groups, a children’s theatre group, heritage enthusiasts, music and amateur theatre groups... and the list goes on.
Most are looking for that extra pair of hands and would welcome new volunteers; no matter your skill, interest or enthusiasm, there will be a volunteering opportunity for you. Some may ask, “What’s in it for new volunteers?” The answers are as varied
as the opportunities available, but there
are common themes of wanting to give something back, of achieving something, of giving new opportunities to other people in our communities.
It’s that huge band of volunteers that make our places tick, that make them the thriving places that they are. Why not make a new year resolution to join them and help to make them, and the communities in which we live, even better?
