Robinson, to Barry Fretwell who died in June, a past committee member of the Squadron’s Civilian Welfare Committee, and as President of the Mirfield Branch of the Royal British Legion a great support and ever-present figure at past Remembrance Day events
• Laying of three wreaths on behalf of: The Royal Air Force, by SAC Miles Gilroy (past Cadet Warrant Officer); the Fellowship of the Services, by Cadet Sergeant Freya Pugh (in memory of Barry Fretwell) and the Air Training Corps, by Cadet Joshua Clark
Various individual contributors’ elements of the presentation were actually filmed at the memorial in Ings Grove Park under careful arrangements in line with social distancing and coronavirus requirements, and spread over three separate days prior to the resumption of the national lockdown. Other contribu- tions were filmed at individuals’ homes and emailed in. Final assembly of all the separate elements into the presentation was undertaken by Cadet Flight Sergeant Jacob Stockwell.
The presentation was warmly received by the local community, and after viewing it paid tributes were paid to the Squadron’s efforts, including:
• “Thank you and congratulations to all involved in the presentation you all produced a solution to a difficult situation with style. I thought
it was a credit to you and the squadron.” (Kingsley Hill)
• “Many thanks to 868 Squadron Mirfield Air Cadets for the superb Remembrance Sunday video. And very well done to all the squadron

Afterwards, Squadron Commander Flight Lieutenant Peter Doubell said: “I was very pleased and proud of the input by members of the Squadron at all levels. The idea came about after the recent Lord-Lieutenant’s Awards presentation was dealt with on a pre-recorded basis, but I was uncertain about how the finished thing would look – great credit must go to Flight Sergeant Stockwell for piecing all the separate elements together. I have been overwhelmed by the plaudits people have given to our finished product – thank you to our viewers,
I am so grateful we have been able to produce something that really reflects us as well such as well received commemoration of Remembrance Day.”
