Rwanda. The visitors were also treated to a selection of Cana- dian folk songs performed by Lt Col Todd Sharp, an Exchange Officer at the JSCSC.
Children were greeted by Santa Claus in the Scandinavian area, and also St Lucia who was an Italian martyr in the 700th century. She is celebrated in Sweden and Finland on 13 Dec when she brings light to the darkest time of the year.
Fund raising for International Families Day took the shape of weekly bake sales organised by the wives and partners of the ACSC International students. The bake sales, co-ordinated by Lotte Bremer Sensen from Netherlands, proved to be extremely popular with the students at break times in the JSCSC Forum, and the proceeds (over £1000) were passed to those families who received no government funding to support their nation’s stand.
The event was opened by the Commandant of the JSCSC, Air Vice-Marshal Ray Lock who thanked the ACSC International Students and their families not only for all the hard work involved in putting together this event, but also for how their presence continues to enrich our lives at Shrivenham.
