RAVC Book Launch at the National Army Museum
Her Royal highness The Princess Royal, the Colonel in Chief of the Royal Army
Veterinary Corps, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence attended the official book launch reception at the National Army Museum in Chelsea, London on Thursday 19th October 2023, to celebrate the publication of the RAVC’s History 1961-2021. Over 75 guests attended the evening event many travelling from Scotland, Yorkshire, Melton, and other parts of England.
On arrival The Princess Royal spoke to Major Dan McRink and Capt Naomi Thomas the RAVC’s Mounted Riders for ‘Capulet’ and ‘Jumping Jack’ as well viewing RAVC Military Working Dogs and their handlers who formed the Honour Guard for the occasion.
The Princess Royal was escorted by the RAVC Colonel Commandant Major General Zac Stenning MBE,
34 / Chiron Calling
Colonel Mark Morrison, and Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Chris Ham MBE and was then introduced to previous Corps Directors, serving RAVC personnel from both the Defence Animal Training Regiment from Melton Mowbray and 1st Military Working Dog Regiment (RAVC) from North Luffenham.
Her Royal Highness also met many RAVC Veterans and other personnel closely associated with the RAVC. The Princess Royal was presented with a signed copy of the historical record by the author of the book by Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Chris Ham.
The special occasion would not have been possible had it not been for the official sponsors of
the event who very kindly donated over £9000 to offset
the costs of the reception and to subsidise the History of the RAVC 1962-2021.
