Impressions of Sandhurst
Lt Roy Yammine, Lebanon RMAS Alumnus CC151 and International Sword Winner
After commissioning from Sandhurst in 2015, I came back as an attachment officer from Lebanon. I have been part of the G7 Team for the duration of my attachment with RMAS. In addition to fulfilling my primary purpose for my time here, namely observing training and learning more about RMAS from the point of view of the Permanent Staff, I have also been assisting the G7 Staff with day-to-day issues and tasks that routinely arise in a busy HQ.
I was working alongside an amazing team where I managed to build fantastic connections. I felt as if I was in my work environment back in Lebanon. I also had the chance to attend and observe several exercises conducted by the OCdts in the different colleges; these included me contributing to the running of a stand on Ex LONG REACH in Dartmoor and visiting Ex DYNAMIC VICTORY in STANTA, which included a full serial on the Interface Lane.
During my stay here, my country (Lebanon) was going through a hard time, especially after the Beirut Explosion. However, the Sandhurst staff were always next to me and helped me through it. I will never forget the support I got from the staff. You cannot but admire the effort of the staff working at Academy Headquarters to construct the ideal training programme and strategy for the instructors to deliver. You don’t see this as an OCdt going through
the course.
RMAS is known to be the best leadership academy in the world, and now, I can confirm this. Being a Sandhurst alumnus, I am confident now that I have been delivered the best leader- ship training in the world by the best instructors in the world.
I was fortunate enough to commission from RMAS, and even more fortunate to work here. In conclusion, it was an amazing and unforgettable experience.
