contrary. Starting the day on flat
ground, during the teaching phase,
it seemed a little too easy; even
the instructor telling everyone there
are only three main hills within the
route. We quickly realised there
would be much more uphills than
we thought when he repeatedly
referred to them as ‘inclines’. The route cov- ered all terrains from road, trail to completely off road, and the pinnacle was a fresh water lake you could swim in. We even got the opportunity to do a bit of surfboarding; whilst Cpl Wells can cycle, he wasn’t as competent standing on the surfboard but at least we all had a good time. From there started the hard work. The dreaded three consecutive hills, at least one hour of solid climbing! Finally we reached the top; the view from there was simply amazing and made all the hard work worth it. As Cpl Wells said now
was the fun bit, the downhill, or was it? The smallest mistake could have resulted in the rider going one way and the bike another; something SSgt ‘Naz’ Thapa found out the hard way! A short yet steep ‘incline’ finished the day, only two from the whole exercise managed to conquer it; a true test of
determination.
Overall this was a fantastic opportunity for all of the RMAS AGC personnel that were fortunate enough to take part. From learning new skills to battling mental and physical barriers, a lot of memories were made and a lot of fun was had by all. And finally we would like to thank Acad- emy HQ, RMAS SSU, AGC, RMAS Sandhurst Trust and Forces Mutual for their support with- out which this expedition would not have been possible.

 Exercise SNOWDON SCRAMBLE CADET
OCdt S Nassiri
The first day of the Exercise was spent as a training day run by OCdt Singh for all Exer- cise participants. Emphasis was placed on low-level skills, in particular micro navigation. We arrived in the town of Llanberis and parked our vehicle before heading east into some local
elevation. The time on the ground was spent refreshing basic map reading skills acquired in the Junior Term, including the identification of contours, spurs and saddles, as well as using larger features such as lakes to orientate our- selves. OCdt Singh also took the opportunity
