On Wednesday, our aim was to reach the top of the Eyjafjallajökull. It was at this point that we saw our first trees in four days. They were sur- rounding a hidden gorge, with a small concealed bridge to cross. Overcoming this obstacle, Ice- land gave us its most impressive sight so far. The Mýrdalsjökull glacier towered above us, domi- nating the horizon.
Our final day was a gradual descent towards the sea, following a gorge interspersed with amazing glacial waterfalls. This concluded with us reach-
ing a waterfall at Skoga that surpassed anything we had seen previously. This spectacular fea- ture shadowed the town beneath it, drawing in crowds from around the island. The bus journey back took us to the Skogafoss waterfall which, given our isolation over the previous week, proved quite the intimidating experience with the number of tourists. The week we spent trekking through this impressive landscape was a great team build- ing experience. The welcoming people and stun- ning scenery made the trip unforgettable.
