1ST MILITARY WORKING DOG
REGIMENT (ROYAL ARMY
VETERINARY CORPS)
1st Military Working Dog Regiment (RAVC) provides the only deployable military working dog and veterinary
capability within the whole of the British Army. The Regiment was established to command the Army’s five military working dog support units. Until the Regimental Headquarters had been established these units were independent. As part of forming the regiment, an additional 162 soldiers were assigned
to the RAVC. As of 2015 the regiment comprised 299 regular soldiers and up to 150 working dogs. With now 112 RAVC reservists integrated into the regiment.
As of 2018, the regiment comprised the following sub-units based at North Luffenham: Regimental Headquarters, 101 Military Working Dog Squadron the Reserve element, 102 Military Working Dog Squadron, 103 HQ Military Working Dog Squadron, 104 Military Working Dog Squadron, 105 Military Working Dog Squadron and a Troop of 6 RAVC personnel based Episkopi in Cyprus.
