Michael Parker 1961.
Michael John Parker was born on 21st September 1941. Educated at Hereford Cathedral School, he entered Sandhurst in 1959 and was commissioned into the Queen’s Own Hussars. He served as a troop leader in Germany, gunnery instructor at Lulworth, and adjutant of his regiment before retiring as a major in 1971, saying later: ‘If you don’t want to be a general – there’s no point in staying’.
