                                Kringelbach to establish The Scars of War Foundation at Queen’s College, Oxford. The organisation does not just research the causes and effects of PTSD but the less well-understood mild blast trauma to the brain (mTBI) which, if untreated, can lead to PTSD. Shocking research shows that between 17% and 50% of British and US forces deployed on operations will suffer some form of psychological trauma. Recently, the foundation has worked with Israeli institutes to widen the understanding of the conditions.
Moving back to Leicester, McManners rekindled his love of music, forming Linden Tree Band. As he put it: ‘I was playing other people’s music since the 1970s while always wanting to write my own. But life got in the way’. Major Hugh McManners, having been one of the first to publicly admit to suffering psychological trauma from his operational service, has now devoted his life to helping others with the condition.
