  CADET AT THE CUTTING EDGE
Cadet CSM Bone receives Master Cutler's award – By Capt. N Bizzell
Cadet Company Sergeant Major Emily Bone was honoured with the presentation of the Master Cutler's award by Dame Julie Kenny DBE DL, Master Cutler. The award recognises junior soldiers and cadets of the Yorkshire Regiment
who have exhibited performance, outstanding work and endeavours over and above that which is normally expected Cad of them. Cadet CSM Bone from Hull has shown these
qualities in abundance in her role in B Company.
At the ceremony, held at Cutlers Hall in Sheffield, a ceremonial knife marking the Company of Cutlers affiliation to the Regiment was presented to Lieutenant Colonel David O’Kelly, Regimental Secretary. Certificates of Affiliation were signed by Past Masters Mr Nick Williams, Mr James Tear and by Lt Col David O’Kelly. The Master Cutler also presented awards to soldiers from 1st, 2nd and 4th battalions, each receiving a smaller operational version of the ceremonial knife and a cheque.
The beautiful knives were manufactured by Chris Hopkinson of Samuel Staniforth, a Sheffield traditional cutler. The knife was designed by Chris Parry, an ex-SAS soldier, who took part in the breaking of the Iranian Embassy Siege in London in 1980. The knife is silver and hallmarked with the Company, Sheffield and Jubilee hallmarks. It was gifted by Mr James Tear, the IPM.
Major Tim Troughton, OC B Company said of the award "My Cadet CSM has demonstrated remarkable leadership since our return to training and continues to do so. I'm glad I had the opportunity to nominate her to get the reward and recognition she deserves".
