CADET SHOOTERS HIT GOLD
National success for the B Company shooting team by SSI Mark Murphy
The B Company shooting team; Sgt Ashlynne Downie (Cottingham), Sgt Harry Sharp (Signals), Cpl Jonathan Kock and Cpl William Pybus (both Hymers) had a successful trip to Bisley competing against
the top shots from across the UK cadet forces. They returned as gold medallists.
The team secured gold in the falling plates competition and were crowned the top ACF team with Cpl Pybus achieving the best ACF individual trophy.
All 4 cadets were placed in the top 50 Cadet firers in the Country and competed in the Tri-Service competition against cadets from the Sea Cadet Corps and Royal Air Force Cadets. To mark this they are awarded the cadet 50 badge.
Cdt Cpl Downie, who has just returned from Jersey, shooting target rifle for the under 17 UK International team said of the event "The weekend was a great experience all the matches expected a top level performance and all of us were able to rise to the occasion. My favourite match was the falling plates where we all consolidated our relationship as a team and came together and won the match."
Cpl Pybus said "Overall a very successful weekend our group out did ourselves and did B Coy proud.
I am very happy to have been top shot in the ACF
as well as supporting our team in the victory in the falling plates. I would definitely recommend the whole experience to any cadets either experienced or not."
