Qatar to spend two years in a dry, hot climate, sipping sangria and living his best life in lycra (his words). CSjt Clark was promoted to WO2 and went on his way to become the Training Warrant Officer at the Infantry Training Centre Catterick. Sjt Deal, promoted to CSjt, was off to the 2nd Infantry Training Battalion at Catterick as the training/planning CSjt, a role in which he will add significant value. Cpl Podmore otherwise, known as the Philosopher, was back off to the Signals pla- toon in 1 RIFLES ie straight on a flight to Cyprus for a 2 year holiday!
They all have left a real impact on the students and have been vital members of the team. All will be much missed.
They were replaced by CSjt Saul Brunt from MRTC and CSjt Leighton Nicholas from 2 RIFLES and Sjt Joey Poole and Cpl Cameron Alright both of 1 RIFLES. The new instructors will take on the mantle as the role models to prepare and safeguard the future of the Regiment, a task that they will not take lightly. The glamour of the sharp end of training delivery only works when there is a support network and with Sjt Cain, LCpl Hawkes, Rfn Slater and Rfn Horwood this has been provided in abundance.
The team have finished the year with another team morale day out. After long deliberation and a clear unified decision, the team opted for completing the Pen- Y-Fan full route, rather than go karting and a few beverages!!! So, post the final course delivery, this is what we went and did to cap off a hard yet rewarding year. A couple of beverages were consumed post walk. The event was a great way for the staff to get something back and relax in a social setting.
The Rifles Training Team has delivered twenty-six courses to over 650 students who in turn have produced some fantastic results in various courses across the Army. The reputation of The Rifles goes from strength to strength and a large part of that is down to the diligence, endeavour and thorough professionalism of the staff at The Rifles Training Team.
