to leave France. Another fast sail, and soon we were in a lovely restaurant in Roscoff old town, passports stamped.
The following morning we started our trip back to Gins, via Guernsey. Another fast sail with the spinnaker up, followed by ice cream waffles from our favourite shop in St Peter’s Port, Waffle & Co.
The next day was windier and the waves were huge, and the boat was flying – until a sail ripped. Later, just as we were pulling into the river, lots of white smoke came out of the engine...sails up again and short-tacking up the river on to our mooring. By then, we felt we’d earned a fizzy drink at Gins!
Toby never did catch his fish but overall, it was a brilliant holiday full of adventure. We look forward to doing it again, but preferably without the breakages!
