REMEMBRANCE
Wear your poppy with pride – lest we forget...
 Hopefully this year we will all be able to participate in the Remembrance ceremonies and the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal in a more normal manner than last year.
The formal Poppy Appeal 2021 here in Thrapston will launch at 10am on Saturday 30th October on Coronation Gardens, when the Garden of Remembrance will open with the first Cross of Remembrance planted by the Town Mayor. Poppy sellers will be out and about from then as will boxes in static locations.
Saturday 6th November will see Poppy Sellers and the Royal British Legion Gazebo
at the Farmer’s Market. Thursday 11th November Armistice Day will see a service
at 11am at the new external War Memorial. Saturday 13th November will see the Royal British Legion back on Coronation Gardens for a chance to buy poppies, poppy related items as well as Crosses of Remembrance for the Garden of Remembrance. Sunday 14th November Remembrance Sunday 2021 will see an 11am service at the External War Memorial, and at 11.20am (approximately) the Walk of Remembrance to Oundle Road Cemetery, to

place Crosses of Remembrance on the five war graves of Thrapston men who died in both World Wars. 14th November Remembrance Sunday 2.45pm, the parade will assemble outside the Fire Station, proceed up the High Street and enter the churchyard via ‘The Slabs’ and then into St James’ Church for the 3pm Remembrance Service. The parade will return to its start point by the reverse route.
