Oundle is the home of one of the country’s leading Arabian horse breeders. Former Fleet Street journalist Anne Brown started Gadebrook Stud 50 years ago to produce horses for long distance racing and the Flat. The bloodlines of her equine athletes have been perfected for speed and stamina by Bedouin tribesmen over the past 3,000 years.
The endurance horses can race 100 miles in a day. One of her stars, Hachim, won the 2005 World Endurance
Championship, finishing
the 160km desert course in
a record-breaking 8 hours
and 2 minutes.
His elder brother, Magic Domino, became a multi- champion in Dressage in the USA. When he was awarded the once-in-a- lifetime ‘Living Legend’ status, Anne flew over
for his three-day trip
from Tennessee for the presentation in Denver, Colorado.
The three 2020 foals at Gadebrook show great promise, winning Gold in the British Young Horse Evaluations. Their sire, Hadiya, also
bred at Gadebrook, was Reserve Endurance Champion at the 2019 Evaluations.
When leading Flat Race horse Sambist arrived at Gadebook, he sired so many winners, he earned the ‘Arab Racing Sire of the Year’ title 13 times.
Mares lie at the heart of the stud, and the results of their progeny have made Gadebrook ‘Breeder of the Year’ many times. The
stud has exported horses to Canada, the USA, Australia, Europe and the Middle East.
