2 MERCIAN Training Wing is currently re- shaping in order to support the Battalion
as they move into a busy operational year. There are lots to do to bring us up to
date. We are going digital! Smart boards, WIFI, Laptops; you name it we have
asked for it. Gone are the days when a section commander gets an old out-dated pamphlet from the Training Wing and he reads it in his room. All pamphlets are being destroyed and digital copies will now be available on DII sticks. By Christmas, we are hoping they can assess all info they require from computers in the Training Wing and are able to teach lessons using smart boards.
The DCCT is receiving an update and we are currently moving it into its own building. We are changing its theme from an out of date Afghan compound to an up to date eight lane range. Again, this will support the Battalion as they look at deploying next year.
This has been a huge success and has seen our soldiers perform excellently with great results...

On top of all this we have also run a potential JNCO preparation and selection cadre for soldiers who fit the criteria to attend the next Section 2IC course. Again, we have brought this up to date, made it longer and focused solely on teaching the soldiers the information they require before testing. This has been a huge success and has seen our soldiers perform excellently
with great results, even getting a top student placing.
We are currently helping and supporting the selected team from the Battalion who will be competing in this year’s Cambrian patrol and planning a pre course for them on Leek training area.
We are also planning a Battalion MATTS concentration week early next year and a 2 MERCIAN range package.
