 Dear Sir
My ancestor, Harold Wallworth, was in the final year of World War I, so
I wanted to remember him in the centenary year of his death.
Harold was born in Birtle, Bury, Lancashire in 1887. He enlisted in Manchester into the Lancashire Fusiliers and the transferred as
205412 Private Wallworth into the
1st Battalion the Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment), 24th Brigade 8th Division, III Corps, 4th Army.
Harold was killed in action on 24 April 1918 in the action at Villiers Bretonneux, Picardie, France.
He is remembered with Honour at Pozieres, Memorial Panel 52-54.
Harold was married to Alice on 7 March 1918, just five weeks before he died.
Regards,
George Wallworth

Sandy Willmore, wife of Colonel Hugh Willmore of the Staffordshire Regiment and daughter of Colonel Dennis and Voila Miller of the Sherwood Foresters died on 7 July 2017.
She was a very friendly, generous lady with a tremendous sense of humour. She very much enjoyed a joke and was always good fun at a party or at any regimental reunion function. She will be sadly missed by her many friends in the regiment
and elsewhere, especially at the annual regimental luncheons.

born on the 8th April 1918. Walter served in the 7th Battalion The Worcestershire Regiment and saw service in Burma in WWII.
Joan Owen
Joan Owen, wife of the late Major Robin Owen North Staffords and Staffordshire Regiment died on 30 July 2017 at the age of 90. She was a lovely, kind lady with a quiet sense of humour and was the sort
of person one would go to for advice. A popular lady who dealt with all the ups and downs of army life and the unforeseen things that life throws at one.
A kind and generous person who spent most of her widowhood of 40 years living in Whittington village, she moved to Cornwall about 2 years ago to be with her family as she was getting less and less mobile.
