                                 1 Platoon / A range / Brecon / March 17 1 Platoon Overview
The last year has been a year full of change for 1 Platoon, Grenadier Company. Cpl Biakierwa spent a large amount of time out on courses to gain his Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear warfare and Quadbike Instructor qualifications. Having become one of the most qualification
rich NCO’s in the battalion, he promptly posted off to Catterick! Cpls Taylor and Barber-Riley promoted from LCpl this year, Barber-Riley having only recently completed his JNCO Battle course in Brecon, both are flourishing within their new rank.
LCpl Gretton joined 1 Platoon in the latter half of the year, bringing with him his skill set from 1 MERCIAN RECCE Platoon. Sadly he, as with a number of private soldiers, was unable to join us on Op TRENTON
due to a UN enforced cap on personnel. Amongst them was Private Hill, he returned from his extended leave period with his
arm in a cast, having broken it in a bike accident. Shortly after Grenadier Company deployed, he transferred to the Signals Platoon. LCpl Traynor discharged during pre-deployment training to find a new career as a civilian, and we wish him all the best.
The Platoon sends their congratulations to Pte Greenwood on his engagement; he is due to tie the knot shortly after his return from South Sudan and we wish them a long and happy life together.
