Love Thrapston.................................................................................
Helping us to be green Plastic Free Thrapston – great stuff!
We love where we live! So much so that we’ve put together a new campaign group to help local residents and businesses reduce their plastic waste.
Have you seen David Attenborough’s Blue Planet 2 or the BBC’s Drowning in Plastic? They have shown how damaging plastic has become to our environment, we are producing it at a rate that cannot be sustained and that recycling can’t solve. Did you know that only 9% of plastic ever produced has been recycled? The rest
of it sits in landfill or finds it’s way into our waterways where it will flow to the sea contributing to the plastic crisis in our oceans and potentially entering our food chain. Did you know that 1 in 3 fish caught have been found to contain plastic?
There are many easy ways that we can
all contribute to reducing our impact and protect our local countryside and waterways. Plastic Free Thrapston is a group of local residents who have come together to join the “Plastic Free Communities” initiative created by the registered charity Surfers
