FUNDRAISING
Motor Neurone Disease
We have all heard of Motor Neurone Disease,
mainly thanks to the bravery of Rob Burrow
and his best friend Kevin Sinfield, who both
played rugby for the Rhino’s.
Most people with MND die within five years
of the onset of symptoms. There is a 1 in 300
risk of getting MND across a lifetime. It can
affect adults of any age, but is more likely to
affect people over 50.
Vita Whitaker from WHITCO in Thrapston
sadly lost her husband to this dreadful illness
and my neighbour, David Marshall died from it
also. Vita has purchased a pair of running shoes
and will be in this year’s London Marathon 2025
with all money raised going to MND. Thrapston
Indoor Market, held in St James Church Hall
on the first Saturday of every month (9.00am-
1.00pm), wanted to raise money for MND so we
had a stall with brand new toys on. All we asked
was a donation in the MND bucket. I have been
amazed at the generosity of yourselves, so many
of you stopped and said “I do not want anything
but I have a relative or friend who has died
from this illness and would like to just make a
donation”. So far, we have raised a little short
of £1200 for MND. This has been so successful
that if you would like to come and see our stall,
or even donate, we will be continuing so please
do come along on April 5th.
Thank you to all who have already donated.
This money will go towards improving access to
care, research and campaigning for those living
with, or affected by, MND.
