Units holding dogs in Northern Ireland were
inspected by the Travelling Dog Inspectorate (TDI), based within the Army Dog Unit (ADU) NI RAVC HQ at Ballykelly.
In the Far East, a similar function was carried out by a SNCO or CT from the Hong Kong Defence Animal Support Unit (HK DASU) in Sek Kong. They inspected all non-RAVC units
TirnacHkoenrg Kong such as the1Royal Mil1it5ary Police (RMP) based at Osborne Barracks, the small
‘listening’ post section on Hong Kong Island and the Composite Ordnance Depot (COD) Sikh Dog Detachment on Stonecutters Island. Furthermore, VOs occasionally travelled overseas to Nepal to regularly inspect the Agricultural Resettlement Centre at Dharan.
The RAVC Support Group:
It was the role of the RAVC Support Group to pr2ovide the op9erational, tech2nical and veNteilrinary 29 support for the Army’s animals in Great Britain.
