Volume 3 of the Royal Army Veterinary Corps History 1962 – 2021 has deliberately been set out differently from the preceding volumes. Finding information from up to sixty years ago after any event has been a challenge in many cases, thus there may be the occasional inaccuracy. I have weighed up any conflicting pieces of informa- tion or differing narratives and have erred on the side of the most plausible version based on my own personal judgment. Some of the articles and quotes contained within are consistent with the language and views of the time they were written and are not necessarily representative of the wid- er Army ethos, culture and beliefs of today.
I have endeavoured to capture periods in
question in a logical order, always through the prism of the respective theatres, countries, bases, campaigns and significant cultural and employment changes the Corps has navigated through.
This volume and the subsequent chapters within it unites quotes, articles, unclassified documents, testimonies, recollections and anecdotes from the many RAVC personnel who have shaped the organisation the Corps has become today.
The overlap is deliberate and in doing so I hope the rich history of the RAVC has been captured in a form that enables the reader to use it as a waypoint, but also as a celebration of all the RAVC has achieved during the period 1962 – 2021.
