AMPHIBIOUS BOMBARDMENT ASSOCIATION
Nicole Hicks in Memory of Gerry
22192324 Gerald (Gerry) JF Hicks (1931 – 2021)
Gerry had a varied and long military career. Having been called up for National Service, Gerry enlisted into the Royal Artillery in October 1949 serving in one of the Combined Operations Bombardment Batteries and as a Gunner he completed his parachute training in 1950. He obviously enjoyed parachuting as on the day after completing his National Service he joined a Parachute Regiment TA unit. In March 1956, he went on to be selected for service with 21 SAS. His service record lists further service with the Royal Engineers, Royal Corp of Transport, Royal Artillery (again), and finally the Royal Signals although these may have been various covers for his service with Special Forces. Gerry passed away in January 2021 leaving behind his wife Nicole.
