3 of your best Red Duke of York Spuds presented on a plate.

Tips:
Clean the spuds under running cold water using a sponge or a cloth. The skins should be
perfectly set which means you should be able to rub any small imperfections off. Make sure
the eyes are clean. Disregard any potato that has disease, greening or insect damage. Think
about your presentation and consider using potatoes leaves or herbs from your plot.

Well grown specimens shall be fresh, clean, of equal size and shape, have unbroken,
smooth, blemish free skin and shallow eyes. Tubers should show no signs of ‘greening’ as
this will signify, they have been over exposed to light. Individual specimens should be clean
and show no signs of disease or damage.

Red Duke of York is a first early variety. A Heritage early potato variety bred in 1942. This

Red Duke of York potatoes are
a heritage potato variety dating back to 1942 and produce red skinned tubers with shallow eyes and yellow flesh. The first Red Duke was said to be found in amongst a crop of white dukes in Holland.
Red Dukes are a dry, mealy potato packed with flavour and do not disintegrate on boiling.
