   Inter-Branch Trug Competition
Back in March 2024 at the Midlands branch AGM I was asked along with Pat and Bernard Brown if we would take the lead on organising the Midlands Branch entry in the National championship’s Inter-Branch Trug competition, which was to be held at Ardingly in West Sussex over the weekend of 21st and 22nd of September 2024.
Myself, Bernard and Pat had last time the competition was held in 2019 organised the trug competition at the New Forest show in Hampshire which we successfully won so we were keen to spear head the way forward for the branch in the 2024 competition.
I must say thank you to my wife Sandra for rallying round the Midland branch members asking for items of veg for the trug. On the day they came up trumps with enough veg on the staging table to fill many trugs.
At 6.00am on the morning of the show two hours before judging myself and Simon Smith made a start on putting the trug together, joined by Pat and Bernard. Having lots of vegetables to work with meant we used the very best quality veg and with Sandras rallying round it also ensured
we had a large range of different types of

vegetables, with some artistic thought from those putting it together it left us all feeling that be had done our best to meet the judging criteria of 20 points for the quality of the veg, 20 points for the different range of veg and 20 points for the display.
Later that morning we came back after judging to find that 1st prize red card. Thank you to ALL who helped and were involved, far too many to name it was a great team effort and very enjoyable to do.
