In September, Several Irish members travelled to Wales for the Welsh Championships and South of England
to attend the AGM and exhibit at the National Championships. Sincere thanks to our friends in the Southern and Welsh Branches for hosting these championships.
We had a very positive Committee meeting in October followed by a members meet and greet. We organised a vegetable show where members displayed a wide variety of fresh produce with a practical judge’s demonstration. As part of the event, Kevin Ward led an engaging session where he showcased the process of transforming these vegetables into delicious soups and
sauces. His demonstration highlighted creative ways to make the most of our homegrown produce, inspiring members to explore new culinary possibilities. The combination of education and live cooking made the event both informative and enjoyable for all involved. Thanks to all who attended and helped make the day such a success.
Looking forward, the NVS have prepared an exciting programme of winter ZOOM presentations. Please keep an eye on social media and on the website for further information and details on how you can register you intertest in attending. Like last year the Talks will be recorded and added to the website library as a member only benefit.

2025 Spring Seminar
Join us on Saturday March 1st, 12pm – 5pm in Moore Hall, South Roscommon N37 HT68 for our Irish Spring seminar. The venue is central and within easy access to the road network.
The Seminar promises to be an engaging and informative event, featuring a series of talks and presentations on a wide range of vegetable-growing topics. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from experts in the field, covering everything from soil health to tips
for getting better quality vegetables. Whether you’re a seasoned grower or just starting out, this seminar will offer valuable insights to help you succeed in your vegetable-growing endeavours.
During the day we will have a fantastic selection of quality plants for sale including seed potatoes. This is you chance to stock up on everything you need for a successful growing season. We welcome any donations to our plant sale area and prizes for our raffle.
There will be plenty of time for refreshments and an opportunity to meet and greet. We also plan to have a table for members to place any merchandise orders, including branded polo shirts. Sean and Noel will be on hand to collect membership and 200 club tickets.
At the event we will officially launch our 2025 NVS Irish Championships which will be held in Moate Show
on 24th August. We will also agree a date for our Garden visit in May. All members are welcome to join for a tea, chat and the opportunity to meet up with friends again and share some tips for the new growing season.
