to prove our readiness for deployment to FTU and our own chain of command. The FTX was an excellent training event as it was the first time the Coy got to deploy in the entire Theatre Entry Standard (HERRICK) Warrior fleet and adapt their use for HERRICK TTPs. Two major operations saw the Coy support ANSF detention operations and protect
a RE troop as they built a bridge on the River Helmand. Integrating dismounts and vehicles and integrating with Warthog Group and the Brigade Operations Coy were the key elements of this exercise which was a resounding success. This was also the first
exercise for WO2 (CSM) Woodward who had to assume the role of CSM within the Coy
as WO2 (CSM) Hunter, who had been with the Coy through BATUS, was sadly injured prior to PANTHER. We wish him a speedy recovery.
As I write this the soldiers of A Coy are on some very well deserved pre deployment leave with the lead elements deploying at the beginning of August and TOA complete shortly thereafter.
MST has been a demanding but rewarding period where integration of the many assets available to the sub unit, fighting through
C2 challenges, adaptation of skills and sheer hard work along with a cheeky sense of humour, has kept the Coy striving for success. Our MST timeline has been more compressed than any other 7 Bde element deploying to HELMAND due to our early TOA date and our need to be as capable in light role soldiering as with operating
in our Warriors, has meant for a complex and challenging seven months. However, the soldiers of A Coy, along with our many attachments, have proved their worth time and again and are now set for the trials that will meet them on HERRICK 19.
