minor veterinary issues and are unable to maintain the workload the MOD requires. Occasionally there are also some younger horses, which cannot cope with the busy State Ceremonial lifestyle of the MOD. We are always seeking new homes to offer our horses post their Military service.
If you are interested in rehoming an MWH, please register your interest via the QR Code on this page. You can access the link provided by the QR Code, by viewing the QR Code
with your smartphone’s camera / QR reader application. From there, you will be directed
to an MS Form to complete; registering your interest on our MWH Rehoming Database. When a MWH becomes available, we will notify those registered on the database. Each horse will be priced as per our rehoming policy and direction on how to apply will be provided. Horses will be rehomed on a first come, first service basis, to the most suitable home.
They will be up to date with vaccinations, wormed and teeth rasped prior to their departure from the British Army. A convenient time will be arranged for you to collect the horse from the Defence Animal Training Regiment (Melton Mowbray), Kings Troop Royal Horse Artillery (Woolwich) or the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment (Knightsbridge). The new owners will have to provide a horse box with a full travelling kit
on collection. This must include a head-collar, with rope and a hay net to transport the MWH to their new home. On the day of collection, we will complete the relevant contracts and provide you with the horse’s passport with change of ownership paperwork and a copy of his/her full veterinary history.
We would like to thank you in advance for the interest and if you have any other queries, please contact us via our email: DATR-EQ-Rehome@mod.gov.uk
