Medical update

It is time to book your seasonal vaccinations.
We are holding Flu and Covid vaccination clinics at the Surgery on Saturday 5th October, Saturday October 12th and Saturday 19th October. This year eligible patients can book both seasonal flu and covid vaccinations together. This is the first year we have been
able to offer both vaccinations on site here in Oundle, removing the need to travel out of town for a covid vaccination.
New Advanced Nurse Practitioner
Please join us in expressing a warm welcome
to Val, our new Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Val has spent his time as a Nurse Practitioner in Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, and
London prior to joining the Oundle team.
Val is supporting the team of six GP Partners
to review patients with acute illnesses and management of long-term conditions, high blood pressure, skin conditions and many more ailments.
Repeat prescriptions can be requested by four different routes:
1. Online using the NHS app or SystmOnline. 2. Using the repeat prescription telephone line
open on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday
from 09.00-11.00am.
3. Requesting in paper and posting to the
Surgery in the box in reception.
4. Requesting from your nominated Chemist or
dispensary.
Type 2 Diabetes Programme
We would like to share an opportunity for patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes to join the NHS Type 2 Diabetes path to remission programme. Patients who are eligible will meet the following criteria:
• Be aged 18-65 years
• Have had type 2 diabetes first diagnosed
within the last 6 years
• Have a BMI of 27kg/m2 or higher if you’re
from a white ethnic background (or 25kg/ m2 or higher if you’re from any other ethnic group)
The free programme aims to support patients to reduce regular diabetes medications, lose weight, improve your health, and potentially put your type 2 diabetes into remission. Participants will be offered low calorie total diet replacement with support and mentoring for
12 months. GPs and nurses at the Surgery can refer patients after confirming eligibility.
Patients who have been diagnosed with Pre- diabetes can still access the free Healthier You NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme, available as both face to face and online personalised support to manage their weight, eat more healthily and become more physically active.
Prediabetes means that your blood sugars
are higher than usual, but not high enough for you to be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Pre- diabetes also means that you are at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes. You are unlikely to be experiencing any symptoms with pre-diabetes.
