BeeConnected – keep informed
BeeConnected is a service from the Crop Protection Association that brings farmers and beekeepers together,
and keeps beekeepers notified when
a neighbouring farmer is applying insecticides to their crops. Beekeepers will be informed of the name of the active ingredient (AI) being applied, and they will be given the basic descriptive information of that AI in the British Crop Production Council’s Pesticide Manual. They will also be told if the product/
AI has any environmental protection precautions relevant to bees.
Farmers & Spray Contractors can register on https://beeconnected.org.uk and enter the details of when and where they are planning to spray an insecticide

that may present a risk to bees (for instance on a flowering crop, or where the field has a conservation buffer strip), and a simple notification will be sent
to neighbouring beekeepers registered with the system.
Beekeepers can register as a beekeeper, enter the position of their hives on the easy to use mapping system, and will receive notifications from registered farmers when they are planning to
spray their crops at a proximity of their choosing up to 5km away. Beekeepers will be able to decide how close a spray event has to be to them before they are notified, up to a maximum of 5km. It is then up to the beekeeper to decide what action to take, if any.
