A visit to Dalefoot Composts

During the summer on my way to visit relatives, we had an adventure; we sat- naved Dalefoot Composts, and as the poem says went “up the airy mountain and down the rushy glen”. My old Ford struggled a little, the sat-nav got lost, but I knew we were in the right area, so I rang them up.
“You’ve gone too far, just come back a bit and turn at the big rock.”
Well, big rocks are not uncommon in Cumbria, but we found the right
one, turned, and were very warmly welcomed to Dalefoot Farm for the guided tour. Simon really knows his product and told us about the time
it went wrong and did not live up to expectations, and what they did on the farm to get it right. I must admit, some of the technical data went right over my head, but the belief is there, and the passion and commitment is palpable.
I first used Dalefoot Composts many years ago, following a trip to the Harrogate Show. I bought a couple of bags of Lakeland Gold and tried it with most of my seeds in a mix with garden
