and her 8-year-old daughter Amy. The first filming was done at about 5pm, and with everybody happy, the live broadcast was carried out at 6.15pm during the Anglia News programme. The whole afternoon was quite an experience,
and it is hoped that showing having an allotment, whether you are young or old, and growing your own food, is a very rewarding thing to do.

To mark National Allotments Week, from 12th–19th August, the Anglia Television News contacted the NAS
to say that they wanted to do an item filmed at one of the allotment sites within the city of Ely. Following my discussions with the newsroom on
the Friday afternoon to find out exactly what they wanted, arrangements were made for filming to take place on the afternoon of Monday 12th at our New Barns Allotments.
The main theme of the filming was to highlight the fact that more younger people, with families, are taking on
allotments in order to produce their food fresh and chemical free. The television news van arrived at 2.30pm with presenter Raveena Ghattaura and a cameraman. A brief tour of the site was undertaken to establish the exact location for the cameras and participants. A second cameraman arrived and there followed a quick run- through of how the filming was to be carried out, and what was expected of the people involved.
The presenter was to initially speak to me and then move on to talk to one of our newer family tenants: Rosie Arnold
The whole afternoon was quite an experience
