them un-printable! We’ve worked with some characters over the years, lots of them have retired or are no longer with us – but we still talk about those funny stories.
What makes H&M Carpentry different? Over 60 years of experience between us, always helps. We’ve been involved in many diverse projects and we offer a design service too. Expanding
the business into a workshop premises will help us achieve completing those unique jobs that maybe some other local business can’t do.
Proudest moment? Rescuing some ducklings in a drain! But carpentry wise, being asked to build a large oak framed garage, and seeing
all of that oak in our workshop turn into a beautiful building was pretty special.
Any future ambitions? Using more locally grown hardwoods in our projects, it’s not always possible though. Creating more bespoke furniture.
What brings you joy? We have a lathe and Dave loves turning bowls. I love my job, but it’s not everything and I love coming home to my boys and wife at the end of the day.
Something people don’t know about you? Dave won a world championship medal in clay shooting, and I’m a part time amateur artist.
Big jobs or small? Either – we’ve done complete houses from top to bottom to making some logoed plaques for a local businesses, as long as it’s interesting, we’re happy.
Do you take on new builds? Yes, and have done many in the 20 years in business.
Favourite wood to work with? Sometimes it’s not the species but the quality or the interesting grain you find, but if we had to name one – oak.
Where do you source your materials? Lots of different places including Huws Gray in Thrapston – it’s always good to see Luke. www.handmbespokewoodwork.co.uk
