WHAT’S ON
In and Around Thrapston
Thrapston Plaza Opera
Local singers and children over the age of eight are invited to join the chorus for Thrapston Plaza Opera’s 2025 production of Puccini’s
“La Bohème” being performed on 20th, 21st & 22nd February.
All our operas are fully staged and sung in English with orchestral accompaniment. No previous experience is required and being able to read music, whilst helpful, is not essential. Weekly Tuesday evening rehearsals take place in St James Church Hall from 7.30-9.30pm

Everyone welcome!
Vince Davy, TPO Music Director
As 2024 draws to a close, we
can look back on a busy and
successful year. We have had
a range of speakers, craft
evenings and social events.
We have had a range of trips and outings, some organised by us, others by County. We have taken part in community events such
as the Charter Fair, the Town Quiz and the Mayor’s Civic Service. Most recently, some of us attended the County AGM, where we heard a brilliant presentation from, amongst others, Professor Turi King about her involvement in the search for the body of Richard III.
We are also busy planning next year’s programme and already have some exciting speakers and yet more outings planned.
This year is not yet over, though. There is a trip to Oxford Christmas Market, a Literary Lunch and a trip to the National Arboretum. Our walkers continue to meet every 2 weeks, and our skittles team plays regularly at Islip WMC. We have our Christmas Dinner planned and, in December we shall celebrate the season with musical entertainment from the wonderful Lincoln Noel.
Our monthly meetings are held at Thrapston Baptist Church, on the 1st Thursday of the month. Visitors are always welcome. £5 entry, refreshments included.

Do you know
about Community
Bus CB1?
There is a community bus that runs every day, Monday to Friday from Thrapston to Rushden Lakes.
It leaves outside Thrapston Library
at 10.02am according to the time table although invariably it is 10.15am before
it arrives. Gets you to the Lakes around 10.45am. You can pick it up both from the library side of the road or across the road at the bus shelter.
Then the return journey is from outside Costa, same place as being dropped off, at 12.08 and always on time departing. You can use your bus pass otherwise the usual £2.00 fare for each journey (subject to increases). I have used it successfully five times now.
