    3 RIFLES
  BOXING TEAM
Our Boxing Team has had an outstandingly successful year. For many fighters, it was their first time in the ring, but they threw themselves into an intensive six-week training program with battalion coaches in preparation for the inter-Company boxing. Of the 15 winning fighters, 11 were taken to the 1(AI) Brigade Championships.
The team travelled to Catterick to compete in the Brigade Championships, putting on
a swift and bold performance by winning a total of 19 fights. Five Riflemen won their finals bouts, and the night ended with 3 RIFLES clearly the dominant force in the Brigade.
There was little time to relax with only a week to push until the Army Individual
Championships, where 3 RIFLES took forward six boxers. In late May the team made their way down to Aldershot and kicked off quickly with two boxers fighting on day one of the competition. We had a grand showing of three individuals in the finals, with two victories: Rfn Farnsworth (Light Middleweight Army Campion), Pte Flint (Featherweight Army Champion) and Cpl Depledge. As a battalion we placed 3rd in the Army on team points.
Huge congratulations to all Riflemen that stepped into the ring and thank you to LCpl Tuner and Rfn Henderson for their high-quality coaching and support.
