A ‘once in
a lifetime’ experience caps off a busy year (so far)
Over the winter, the monthly Zoom meetings continued. This allowed us to bring members and guests together and to enjoy variety of interesting informative talks. These included a history of the Corps and restructuring of the AMS as well as an overview of current military medical issues. We have been very fortunate and are grateful that people have given their time for these meetings.
Our well-attended Corps Day celebration, in March, was held at St Francis Church Littlemore Weymouth, followed by a delicious lunch with a stunning view of Chesil beach at Portland Heights Hotel Portland.
And in June, 25 members and guests set of from Exmouth for a windy boat trip which included a cream tea. There was lots of chat, and everyone enjoyed themselves. Quite a few members stayed locally and made a weekend of it.
Later the same month, five Jurassic Coast members were privileged to attend the QARANC Association’s 75th anniversary celebration at Hampton Court Palace: Carol Kefford, Marjorie Bandy, Dominee Barrett, Sue Alun-Jones and myself (Sue Shrimpton). What an amazing, once in a lifetime incredible experience we had. The drinks and food flowed as did the conversation.
The starter of smoked salmon was so beautifully presented and looked so pretty with the decoration of edible flowers. The main was slow cooked beef cheek which was so succulent. The chocolate layered sweet was delicious though I had to dissect it to tackle it. All in all, a truly wonderful evening and planned so well.
