The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards are paired with the 1st Régiment d’infanterie de Marine (1st RIMa - 1st Marine Infantry Regiment), a French regiment specialized in light cavalry combat and part of an amphibious brigade. This regiment also belongs to the French Marines Corps, called “Troupes de Marines”. This year, the regiment based in the city of Angoulême, has been deployed in multiple countries. Let’s have a look back at a year packed with operational activities.
An intensive operational training pace marked the year 2023 as well as numerous operational challenges and missions abroad. At the beginning of the year, one squadron returned from Senegal after spending four months over there as part of the French armed cooperation in Western Africa.
