 Photograph taken at the Regimental Dinner held at St James’s Palace on 7 December 1993 when it was announced Her Majesty The Queen, who was marking her 40th anniversary as Colonel in Chief, had appointed HRH The Duke of Kent to be the Deputy Colonel in Chief.   Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Scots Greys from the date of her accession on 6 February 1952, the Royal Scots Greys provided a marching contingent for the Coronation on 2 June 1953. When the Royal Scots Greys amalgamated with the 3rd Carabiniers in 1971, she continued as Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards.
As Colonel-in-Chief, Her Majesty the Queen presented the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards with 3 new standards and frequently visited the regiment in the UK and Germany. Serving and retired members of the Royal Scots
Dragoon Guards were honoured to be a part of Operation UNICORN and Operation LONDON BRIDGE.
On 11 August 2023 it was announced that His Majesty King Charles III would take over as Colonel-in-Chief of the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards which led to serving and retired members of the regiment take part in Operation GOLDEN ORB and Operation SPECTRE.
The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards look forward to welcoming our new Colonel-in-Chief to Leuchars Station on a visit to the regiment in the future.
