THE TRIUMPHS OF THE WELFARE TEAM IN 2023: A YEAR OF UNWAVERING SUPPORT AND MORALE BUILDING
The year 2023 was a period of intense activity and engagement for the Welfare Team. Despite the deployment of the A & HQ squadrons, the team stepped up to the challenge, ensuring the families at home were well looked after and their spirits remained high. Their unwavering commitment to fostering a sense of community and maintaining morale resulted in a year full of memorable events and accomplishments.
The year kicked off in January with a Sunday lunch event that had families buzzing with excitement. With a bouncy castle, numerous games, and face painters, the welfare team ensured a fun-filled start to the year, setting the tone for the months to come.
In February, the welfare team brought in SSgt Lumsden our RCWO, to hold cooking demonstrations. SSgt Lumsden showed families how to whip up delicious meals on a low budget, imparting invaluable skills and a sense of self-sufficiency to the community.
March saw a cultural spotlight on Scottish heritage, with LCpl Drummond introducing the children to the unique sound of bagpipes. His demonstrations not only provided
an entertaining activity but also served to enrich the children’s understanding of local culture and tradition.
In May, the Welfare Team organized a grand celebration for the King’s Coronation. This event not only served as a bonding experience but also instilled a sense of national pride among the families.
The month of June marked a significant transition within the Welfare Team. SSgt David Steel, a key personality,
