                                SHOOTING
Lt Baker-Cresswell
In an effort to increase the field sports opportunities for those in the regiment, John and Sophie Baker-Cresswell were kind enough to offer to host the Officer’s mess for a pheasant shoot in Northumberland under the shadow of Bamburgh Castle. It was made all the more special as it was the first shoot we have done since the dark days of Covid.
We were hosted for two nights, fed some incredible food and presented with some wonderful wild Northumbrian pheasants. We started the morning being almost entirely incapable of making contact with anything in the air, much to the dismay of Gary the game keeper who decided our lethality was in much need of some improvement! Come the afternoon, we managed to make some adjustments to our point of aim which resulted in a mixed bag of 55 birds, including a guinea fowl and a Turkey! Shooting wild pheasants with such lovely coastal views was a real treat.
Once again, I’d like to thank Sophie, John and the team at Budle Hall on behalf of the mess for putting on a wonderful day and hosting two brilliant evenings.
